Last year I attempted a filo pastry pesto tree – it did not go well but did taste amazing. This year I vowed to attempt the tree again, this time a gluten free chocolate one!
To make this you will need:
- A roll of gluten free pastry
- Chocolate spread
Preheat your oven to gas mark 6.
To begin cut your sheet of pastry into two equal pieces.
Spread your chocolate spread onto one sheet of the pastry, in the shape of a Christmas tree.
Lay the other sheet of pastry on top of the chocolate spread. Then cut away the excess pastry (I put this to the side to make some extra chocolate twists). Cut out two sections at the bottom to create a trunk for your tree.
Cut the branches for your tree and begin to twist each branch.
It should look roughly like this – hopefully a bit neater! Sprinkle with some icing sugar and place in the oven for half an hour. Make sure to flip the tree half way through to prevent a soggy bottom.
We enjoyed scoffing our chocolate Christmas tree whilst watching the strictly final with a gin and tonic or two!
