During the winter I love a hot chocolate treat night. I spotted a tiny bit of cream left over in the fridge and thought I would whip it up and make some hot chocolate. This is a very basic recipe but I thought I’d share it with you because it’s my absolute favourite! I make it on the hob using just milk, hot chocolate powder and a whisk.
To begin measure out the milk. To do this I fill up the cups of however many people I’m making it for and then transfer the contents to a saucepan. Turn the saucepan on and begin to heat up the milk, stirring regularly.
My favourite hot chocolate powder is the Cadbury’s one. It says on it to use a teaspoon but I like to go for a tablespoon!
Tonight I was making hot chocolate for 2 and put 4 tablespoons of the powder in.
Lucky I’m not on a diet.
Once you’ve added the powder stir with the whisk until it has dissolved into the milk.
Keep whisking to prevent the milk from burning on the bottom of the pan.
Once the chocolate milk begins to boil you can take it off of the heat.
At this stage I like to find a responsible adult to pour the hot chocolate from the saucepan to the cups – I chose this one here. With my clumsiness I would have burnt myself and spilt it.
Now you can add your whipped cream to the top of the mug.
The end result is delicious!
