How have I helped my anxiety?

How have I helped my anxiety? There’s lots of information out there. Some good, some bad, and some ‘meh’. I know because over the years I’ve desperately Googled ‘how to help anxiety’. It’s given me some great tips, especially regarding self-care. However, the sheer amount of information is overwhelming. That’s why I thought I’d try to bring you a simple post, outlining what has helped my anxiety over the last couple of years. I definitely feel as though I’ve made progress. I feel like me again. So I want to share with you what’s helped me get there. There’ll probably be some rambling ons, but let’s be honest, if there…

    Getting outside my comfort zone

It’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been feeling a little stuck. There’s been no actual progress but also no setbacks to tell you about. However, we booked some time off, and had a long weekend, and I decided it was time I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. The last time I spoke to you, it was about coming off of my antidepressants. I’ve had a few wobbles and wondered whether it was the right thing to do. I could happily still be on them. However, I know that the only way to get better is to challenge myself and being off of the meds is…

What is being on antidepressants like?

What is being on antidepressants like? In December 2020, I made the decision to try antidepressants for my depression and anxiety. A culmination of years of anxiety and the pandemic has caused me to sink to an all-time low. It wasn’t an easy decision for me to choose medication. However, I’m so grateful I did. You can read about my journey to taking antidepressants here. You can also read an update here. I’ve since weaned myself off, but I’m so happy I made the decision to try them. So, the important question is… what is being on antidepressants like?   The beginning I’ve already told you about making my decision…

    Antidepressants – An Update

Antidepressants – An Update When I first went on antidepressants, they changed my life (for the better). I’ve now been on them for almost six months and the initial joy has worn off. I’m noticing a few negative side effects from them and thought I would tell you about it. To begin with, let me just say that the antidepressants have been amazing. If you’ve read my recent posts, you’ll see I’ve been pushing forward with my anxiety and hardly felt any hint of depression. The tablets have helped me get out of my head and for that I am incredibly grateful. Despite what I’m about to write below, I…

    Another Anxiety Break Through

Another Anxiety Break Through Last week, my boyfriend and I took a couple of days off. April was a long month, and we wanted a couple of days just to relax. However, there was little relaxing as they turned into two days filled with opportunities for me to confront my anxiety. I’m sat here writing this on Thursday after having spent Tuesday and Wednesday going out. I feel absolutely exhausted from pushing myself, but I’m also incredibly proud of myself. As I’m sharing my journey with you all, I wanted to tell you what I got up to and how I felt. So here goes…   Tuesday Anyone that knows…

    Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 It’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2021. A week dedicated to encouraging people to speak out about their mental health. We can show people that mental health is important. The theme for this year is nature. During England’s first lockdown I discovered how much nature could help my mental health. Just being out in the fresh air and appreciating everything around me made me feel calm. Since then, I’ve had a few set backs which make being out in nature a little more difficult. However, this is something I plan to continue working on (hopefully with a dog beside me in the next few weeks!). Do…

I’m proud of myself for what I did

I’m proud of myself for what I did This weekend just gone was quite a big one for me. It’s rare I say this but I’m proud of myself for what I achieved. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll probably have seen me asking lots of doggy-related questions. For the past few months, we’ve been looking into getting a dog. Originally, we were looking to re-home, however, we need a combination of good with dogs, good with young children, and can adapt to being in a flat. Unfortunately, these dogs are like gold dust. We did our best to stay patient and every day, before even getting out of…

    I’ve started antidepressants

I’ve started antidepressants *This post was written in January, however I decided to take some time off from my blog* If you’ve been following my mental health journey over the last couple of years, then you will know that I’ve always been reluctant to turn to medication. I had several reasons for not wanting to use medication to cope with my anxiety and depression. The main one being that I suspected I’d become reliant on it and dread coming off of it – thus finding myself back at square one. However, with little progress being made and Covid hindering everything, I decided that medication may be the way forward.  …

    Lockdown 3.0

Lockdown 3.0 (I wrote this at the start of January but decided to take the month off from my blog) It’s finally here, Lockdown 3.0. I can’t say I’m surprised, in fact, I’m rather relieved. Here in Kent the virus is running rampant. Over Christmas family and friends of the family tested positive. Everyone has been really unwell (a couple ending up in hospital). They all seem to finally be on the mend now but it’s still very worrying. From a personal point of view, I’m also terrified of catching the virus. I have had pneumonia in the past from flu and it worries me I have a weakness. In…

    2020 Yearly Review

2020 Yearly Review Wow. What a year 2020 has been. None of us saw that coming. I feel that 2020’s overview is one of the most important years I’ve covered. With most of the year spent in lockdown I wanted to look back and see what I’ve actually done and it turns out, I’ve done a lot!   You can read my other yearly reviews here: Looking back at 2018 2019 Yearly Review January We were still in full renovation mode in January and my office/dressing room was our project. It now looks nothing like this  (keep an eye out in November) so it’s quite fun looking back. The desk…
